With an older restoration, this model t is one of those cars that's got great patina and works the way it should. By 1927, henry was allowing more than just basic black, and the dark green finish with black fenders is a timeless look that ideally suits the upright ford. A plated radiator shell (a little rough) and matching headlight rings give it an authentic 1927 look, and accessories include a side mirror, bumpers, and a cover for the spare tire, complete with ford script logo. Basic black leatherette is what all open model ts received and it's got a period-correct look with pleats and buttons. Door panels are brutally simple swatches of cardboard and leatherette with small cutouts for the door handles. Floors remained wood, along with much of the body's framing, and the dash was still a simple affair with just controls for the ignition system and an ammeter (even a speedometer was optional!), although there's an accessory boyce moto-meter out on the radiator to keep an eye on temperatures. Overhead, there's a tan canvas folding top with a glass rear window that's showing some age but still looks nice and gives the t a more impressive look. Most of that is due to the good low-end torque and smart gearing, and once it's in high gear, this t is happy to cruise at 35 mph without complaints. The block is finished in black engine enamel with a correct updraft carburetor that's still fed by gravity to keep things simple. A standard coil ignition system lives in that box atop the cylinder head and later ts like this feature a water pump (early cars were thermosiphon) so it's happier in traffic. The chassis is in good order and shows black running gear and a reproduction exhaust system with just the right sound. Model ts still used 2-wheel brakes, but they're more than adequate for the car's modest performance. Handsome wire spoke wheels are painted cream to match.

The engine is the same 4-cylinder 20-horsepower powerplant that was under the hood of every model t, but with clever gearing, it moves the truck easily, loaded or empty. Correct in just about every way, from the individual coils and plug leads to the simple cooling system (henry finally added water pumps late in production to cope with the added demands of 1920s traffic). The updraft carburetor hangs under the cast iron exhaust manifold and it fires with a familiar sound that forms the background soundtrack for every old movie ever made. The basic chassis is in great shape, and even though it looks spindly and fragile, rest assured that this sucker is robust and ready to work. 23-inch wood wheels with hickory spokes sport staggered tires that manage the load out back. A wonderful vintage truck that always attracts a lot of attention and will be a lot of fun for parades and shows.

Every curve, relief, and molding is as the factory did it. the deck lid is fiberglass, and is the only non-metal body part on the whole car. The rest of the nose, including the hood sides, top, and fairings along the chassis are hand-formed aluminum for minimum weight and punched full of louvers to both help with cooling and to allow the air to pass around and through the car as easily as possible. gunslinger wears a spectacular black paint job, and there is not a single ripple, wave, or patch of orange peel anywhere on the car. Suggesting a huge amount of time was invested in getting all that hand-fabricated bodywork super straight. All fits together exquisitely well. the whole idea behind gunslinger was to merge the design ethos of the classic model t track roadster with craftsmanship that borders on art without losing sight of tradition. Then there are the functional bits like the scoop under the nose that actually force-feeds cool air into the radiator, the cool reverse scoops in the side panels that look like the exhaust ports on a mustang p51 fighter plane but actually add clearance for the headers, and the exposed steering mechanism that’s the essence of simplicity. Out back, there are neat little push bars that replicate those used on salt flats racers for decades, and while they probably don’t offer much protection, they do give it a finished look. the interior is again a nod to the past, with distressed-looking gray/green leather that might have been weathered by the sun and elements back in the ‘50s. Pleated door panels use brass rifle bolts as door latch handles and check straps for a vintage look and there are carpets on the floor, which definitely help control noise and heat. the trunk is outfitted with a modern fuel cell for safety and aircraft-quality fuel lines feeding the small block v8 up front. gunslinger is fitted with a zz3 chevrolet 350 cubic inch v8 with aluminum heads and a wicked comp cams “mother thumper” roller camshaft inside and a big demon carburetor on top. With more than 400 horsepower on tap and a full-race idle that cackles and snorts, this car sounds like a predator.
