Only 2572 series 250 convertibles were built in 1951, making this a rare car with legendary straight-8 power and undeniable packard presence. The all-new 250 was designed to be a low-cost packard, but everything's relative, as it still cost as much as a cadillac in 1951. The styling was conservative as ever, but with a handsome, rounded look that would serve until 1956 when packard merged with studebaker in a last attempt to stay alive. Bodywork is quite good, with straight bodywork and good panel alignment, suggesting that this car, like most packards, lived an easy life with people who loved it. The finish is older and perhaps showing a few signs of age, but like a movie star who is aging gracefully, it would be an insult to try to make it better. Instead, it has a wonderful all-of-a-piece look and feel, from the traditional packard grille up front to the optional chrome fins on the rear fenders. The interior isn't entirely authentic, but they did work to get the look right using a combination of pleats and flat panels, and the upholstery is quite comfortable when the sun is overhead. Matching red door panels were created at the same time, and there's plenty of bright trim to make the packard feel special inside. A big steering wheel frames three gauges with all the vitals and simple two-tone faces, as was the fashion in the early '50s. The shifter controls packard's ultramatic automatic transmission and operation feels quite modern, so getting this one out on the road is easy even for first-timers. The center stack houses the am radio (not operational, which isn't surprising) and heater controls, proving that nothing much has changed in the past six decades. The upholstery is in very good condition with minimal wear, the carpets look quite good, and like the exterior, everything looks about the same age and condition so it's quite a pleasant place to spend some time. And there's a giant trunk that's as neatly finished as the interior and it includes a full-sized spare on a matching wire wheel. Thanks to a freshly rebuilt carburetor and tune-up, it starts with a muscular 8-cylinder burble and moves the car with an uncanny ease.

Instead, it has a wonderful all-of-a-piece look and feel, from the traditional packard grille up front to the optional chrome "fins" on the rear fenders. The interior isn't entirely authentic, but they did work to get the look right using a combination of pleats and flat panels, and the upholstery is quite comfortable when the sun is overhead. Matching red door panels were created at the same time, and there's plenty of bright trim to make the packard feel special inside. The underside is clean with no signs that this car ever lived in the rust belt, and it appears to have a recent reproduction exhaust system that sounds right. Flashy wide whitewall radials on gorgeous chrome wire wheels add an expensive upscale look that suits this packard just fine.

Here is a very rare 1930 packard 726 sedan in excellent condition. Packard was a premier luxury and quality built automobile company from 1899 to 1958. While founded in warren, ohio, packard is best known for their detroit michigan produced automobiles. Unique symbols such as the trademark red hexagon and coat of arms readily identify the marque. Their radiator ornaments were equally graceful and well know with the most famous being the goddess of speed, adonis at the well and the cormorant. Their most memorable slogan was "ask the man who owns one". In 1930, packard sold 28,318 cars priced from $2,375 to $5,350. Their sales success made them a leading luxury marque at the start of the classic era and they were one of the oldest car companies in america with the first packard being built in 1899. This packard is the 726 series that has a wheel base of 127. 5 inches. The 726 series was only available in a sedan. This packard has had a complete restoration with the original colors, dual side mounts and trunk rack. The previous owner had the engine, transmission and clutch rebuilt. It has the original gauges. This is a great running and driving car that has the look only a packard could have. Call ken at 404-512-1295 with any questions or email me at bigousedcars@bellsouth. Net. See alot more pics at www.

The doors close with that solid 'thunk' that only ancient original cars seem to offer, and while there are some signs of wear since the restoration was completed in the 1980s, there are more signs of the love and attention this car received in the years since. It's also equipoped with accessory fog lamps, a "lady with donut" hood ornament, and running boards, which all contribute to the 1930s vibe. There's no mistaking the Packard look, and it was no mistake that the 120 looked a lot like its big brothers Cloth Interior

To survive the great depression, independent automaker packard had to diversify, and that meant selling more cars to more people. There's no mistaking the packard look, and it was no mistake that the 120 looked a lot like its big brothers. The grille is a packard trademark dating back to the early 'teens and got a sleeker look in 1937. The doors close with that solid 'thunk' that only ancient original cars seem to offer, and while there are some signs of wear since the restoration was completed in the 1980s, there are more signs of the love and attention this car received in the years since. It's also equipoped with accessory fog lamps, a lady with donut hood ornament, and running boards, which all contribute to the 1930s vibe. Sure, there are some very minor signs of age and use, but that's only proof that this car is a great driver. The big steering wheel and light effort make the 120 one of the more nimble cars of the period and synchromesh was standard equipment by then, so the 3-speed manual transmission shifts easily without any grinding. Both the heater/defroster unit and the am radio were options in 1937, and while the radio isn't working it's a fantastic addition to this car's pedigree. Even the trunk is in good order, offering plenty of space plus a full-sized spare tire and jack assembly. The 120 was a great car simply because it offered packard 8-cylinder power in a smaller package. Enthusiasts in the know will argue that the 120 is perhaps the best-driving packard of the era, simply due to its all-new independent front suspension and superior brakes, not to mention a great power-to-weight ratio. Before world war ii, there was no bigger name than packard. Packards were always known for their conservative styling, and the 1941 packard 160 is no exception. There are many collectors who swear that the 1941 packards are the best road cars produced up to that time, and after seeing and driving this handsome sedan, we can hardly argue with them. Finished in traditional packard blue, this big sedan looks impressive from any angle. It's in very good condition, although the paint job was done some years ago, so it's no longer show quality. The interior is simply spectacular, with correct wool broadcloth upholstery and enough stretch-out room to make shaq feel comfortable. Striped fabric is exactly right for the period and goes with the tan broadcloth on the door panels, all of which are just how packard did it in 1941. The only notable deviation from stock is the leather wrapper on the steering wheel, likely done because the plastic underneath is starting to unwind, which is common. The gauges are still art-deco cool, with a copper face and big numerals for the wide speedometer. The original am radio is still in the center of the dash and remarkably enough, it still works! It's all in very good overall condition, including the back seat area which looks almost new. The trunk is neatly finished with black carpets and includes a full-sized spare tire. The 356 cubic inch straight-8 is arguably packard's best engine. Smooth, torquey, and utterly indestructible, it powered the biggest packards from 1940 into the 1950s. It's painted in packard green engine enamel and looks quite stock, including the original downdraft carburetor, oil bath air cleaner, and generator. It cranks over slowly (still 6 volts) but that's pre. Cloth Interior
